Restorative and Therapeutic Acupuncture
Clinical studies have shown acupuncture is an effective treatment for most pain conditions including migraines, neuralgia, neck pain, back pain, shoulder pain, herniated disc, TMJ tennis elbow, carpal tunnel, arthritis, frozen shoulder, shoulder pain, fibromyalgia, sports and other injuries just to name a few. Acupuncture is also effective for reducing stress/ anxiety and the side effects from cancer treatment. Many women are successfully treated for both infertility and women’s health.
Traditional Acupuncture
Acupuncture points will be stimulated with thin needles so your body can start the process of reducing inflammation and healing itself. Inserting the needles should not be painful and you may not even feel the needles being inserted. Then, while you relax to music, your body starts doing the heavy lifting of reducing pain and begins the healing process.
Electrostimulation
Electrostimulation may be the best option for your condition. The above needles are connected to a machine that sends out a mixed pattern of electrical impulses which work on fatiguing the muscles.
Cold Laser Therapy
Cold laser therapy, also known as low-level laser therapy (LLLT), involves using low-intensity lasers to stimulate healing at the cellular level. These lasers emit specific wavelengths of light that are absorbed by the tissues, promoting increased circulation, reducing inflammation, and enhancing cellular repair processes. Unlike surgical lasers, cold lasers do not produce heat and are non-invasive.
Auricular Acupuncture
In Chinese Medicine the ear is a microsystem of the rest of the body. Many conditions can be treated through the ear itself. And being sent home with needles in your ear can be like receiving a weeks’ worth of treatments.
Dry Needling
This technique goes right to the source of the pain. Many needles are inserted into the muscle near the injured area. These needles are inserted quickly, stimulated and removed. Dry needling works by exhausting the injured muscle and forcing them to relax and for the inflammation to be reduced which starts the healing process.
Acupuncture FAQs
Here are a few facts about acupuncture that should help you know what to expect.
How does acupuncture work?
Acupuncture stimulates blood circulation into the area being treated. Blood carries oxygen and white blood cells, which assists with the healing process. Acupuncture also stimulates the production of endorphins in the body. Endorphins contribute to a feeling of overall well-being in addition to performing as a powerful pain reducer.
Does acupuncture hurt?
Most people don’t feel the needles being inserted. Occasionally, someone will feel a quick sting as the needle is inserted. If the discomfort lasts for any length of time, I can adjust the point or the treatment.
How do I prepare for an acupuncture treatment?
Eat. I’m working with your body’s energy, give it some fuel before you come in.
Wear loose comfortable clothing, if I can access your knees down and elbows down, you may not need to disrobe.
Why do I need to schedule multiple acupuncture treatments?
Acupuncture is working with your body’s energy to heal itself. For long term or severe conditions, multiple treatments are needed for long term results.
